The ex-president of South Korea, Kim Dae Jung (KDJ) died at the age of 83 after being hospitalized for like a month due to his pneumonia. He was said to be dead on August 18, 2009 at 1.43pm Korean time.
For Koreans, KDJ is one of best presidents they ever have. He receieved a nobel prize in 2000 for his effort to repair his country’s relationship with North Korea despite ideological difference between the two countries. He is also known as a president who cared about democracy and human rights. During his leadership, the country had enjoyed significant development in terms of democracy, human rights and relations with the North. He was also a target of assassination and kidnapping by his political rival during his life. Through Korean National Inteligence Service, his political rival at that time, Park Chung-hee, had kidnapped and treated him badly.
He’s gone forever, but his leadership and merits will be remembered by Koreans forever.
Good bye KDJ, have a nice everlasting rest!!
